The fully automatic electric germinator / sprouter allows you to produce freshly germinated seeds and sprouted seeds in as little as 24 hours!  Depending on the mixture of seeds used, 24 hours will give you fully germinated seeds or even short sprouts.  A further 24 hours will usually give good length sprouts.  The automatic sprouter is very easy to use and does away with jars, tubs, trays and all manner of other awkward containers.  Simply set away and leave for 24-48 hours, then rinse and serve.

The machine automatically sprays water for 5 minutes twice an hour ensuring that the seeds are constantly moist and rinsed too.

Preparation before use

Before first use rinse the machine parts with clean water and then re-assemble.

Important: Fill the reservoir with water BEFORE turning on the machine – otherwise you will burn out the pump.

Sprouting

Decide on your sprouting mix or mixes.  Up to eight trays can be used at once, so you can do more than one type of mix in the sprouter at the same time.  If you are making your own sprouting mixture, check for compatible germination rates and suitability for sprouting.

Recommend mixtures:

Soak the seed for 12 hours (overnight) ideally as this speeds up the germination process – use warm water with either GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) or Birdcare Company Aviclens.  Rise before soaking and after soaking before putting into the machine.

Important: Fill the reservoir with water BEFORE turning on the machine – otherwise you will burn out the pump. Add either GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) or Birdcare Company Aviclens into the water in the reservoir.

Spread the seeds evenly between the four or eight trays (one layer or two).  Replace the lid, switch on and leave for 24 hours for germination / short sprouts and 48 hours for larger sprouts. You can leave for longer if much larger sprouts are required.   Remove sprouts and rinse through before serving.  Sprouts can be stored in sealed jars in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.  Make sure to rinse again before serving.

After use

After you have finished using the sprouter wash all the trays and parts separately and rinse well.  There will sometimes be a build-up of starch on the sides of the sprouter, which can be wiped away with a soft cloth.  Do not use washing up liquid, kitchen cleaners, bleach etc to clean the sprouter, as this will taint the next batch of seed and potentially damage the sprouter.  We recommend using a bird-safe disinfectant such as F10, Virkon S, or Birdcare Company Avisafe.  When all the parts have been washed, re-assemble and fill the reservoir back up with water and your chosen disinfectant.  Allow to run for an hour to complete a couple of cycles, then turn off, empty and dry.

Cracking bit of kit!
07 February 2018  |

The sprouter was a lot larger than I thought it would be and takes up considerable space on the worktop. It's easy to put together and combined with the bag of sprouting blend, I had delicious sprouts for my flock of parrots (and the rest of the family) within days. I like the way it rinses the sprouts so I don't have to think about doing it, and so prefer using this machine than soaking in a jar. I can make lots more and keep them for three days in the fridge. So for me my purchase is worth the money.

The service from Garden Feathers was excellent.

Sprouts R us

Followed the advice book and sprouts galore on day two. Love the rotating water keeping the seeds from drying out.
Day three should see greens growing tall.
More than happy for the goods and the service guys.
