Coronavirus Update

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions we have made some changes to our usual in-store service.

The government has confirmed that pet shops and animal feed suppliers are classed as essential services and are therefore allowed to remain open at this time.  However, to ensure the safety of both customers and staff, we have decided to implement the following restrictions:

In-store

  • Opening hours remain 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday
  • Access to the store is restricted to a maximum of 4 customers at any one time
  • Door handles, credit card terminals and other surfaces are being disinfected on a regular basis
  • Orders can be phoned in and collected from the car park or the front door if preferred
  • Please pay by card where possible, if paying in cash please try to have the correct change
  • Our phone lines are extremely busy with both enquiries and orders, so please be patient and either leave a message or call back again. 

Local delivery service

  • As ever, we are operating a home delivery service within Sunderland, South Tyneside, Washington, Gateshead, Chester le Street and Houghton le Spring - for these areas there is no delivery charge for orders of £50 and over, under £50 is a flat fee of just £5
  • Delivery to other areas is also possible (Newcastle, North Tyneside, Durham), the delivery fee will depend on your location. 
  • If your order has been paid for over the phone then we will alert you to our arrival and leave your order on your doorstep, or other agreed location (garage, porch etc) to minimise contact
  • If you need to pay cash on delivery, we will ask you to have this ready in an envelope if possible.   

Nationwide delivery service - via telephone and internet

  • Royal Mail and DPD services are operating as usual, although there is a delay of a few days with Royal Mail at present.
  • As we are experiencing a higher volume of orders please be aware that deliveries may take a few days longer to arrive. 
  • Our phone lines are extremely busy with both enquiries and orders, so please be patient and either leave a message or call back again. 

Supply chain

  • Restrictions are so far not affecting the movement of goods, but there is a chance that this will change
  • We may be impacted because a lot of our specialist products come from Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium and Holland - the combination of Covid-19 and Brexit has caused a number of delays but goods are still flowing.
  • We are working hard to keep our stocks replenished. Please call if you wish to check availability

To re-iterate our previous updates: we realise that this is a worrying time for people, particularly for the many of you who are over 70 and/or have underlying health conditions. Please know that we aim to do everything that we can to support you, just as you have supported us and our company over the past 10 years.   We hope you and your families stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
